The NCAA tournament starts tomorrow. So who are the best players at each position in the big dance, find out below as rank the top 5 players at each position.
Point Guards
1.Kendall Marshall (North Carolina) – Marshall is one of the best passing point guards to play in college basketball in a long time. Marshall set the record for most assists in the ACC for one season.
2.Tyshawn Taylor (Kansas) – Taylor is averaging about 17 points and 5 assists per game not bad. He is also shooting a lot better from three
3.Casper Ware (Long Beach State)- – Every team in this bracket should be aware of Ware. He scored 38 points in a game this season and he scored 29 at North Carolina.
4.Trey Burke (Michigan)-Burke has been one of the best 5 freshman in the country this season.
5.Jordan Taylor (Wisconsin)- Taylor had a better season last season, but still for one game I would take him on my team.
Shooting Guards
1.John Jenkins (Vanderbilt) – Jenkins is the best three point shooter in the nation. Jenkins is making 3.9 threes per game while shooting 46 % from three.
2.Marcus Denmon (Missouri) -One of the best shooting guards in the country. He is making 2.8 threes per game.
3.Will Barton (Memphis)- – Barton is averaging 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists; not bad.
4.Darius Johnson Odom (Marquette) – Like his teammate Odom, he is really underrated nationally. He is averaging 18.5 points per game.
5.J’Covan Brown (Texas)- Brown knows how to score. He is the leading a very young team with 20 points per game.
Small Forwards
1.Draymond Green (Michigan State) -Green is a big man who can do it all. He leads the Spartans is Points, rebounds, blocks and steals. Also a very good passer and capable three point shooter.
2.Jae Crowder (Marquette) – The Big East Player of the Year. Crowder is maybe one of the most underrated players in the country; he needs more publicity.
3.Harrison Barnes (North Carolina) – Barnes has been more aggressive this season attacking the rim, and he is shooting the three better. Need a shot late to win, put money on Barnes to make it.
4.Michael Kidd- Gilchrist (Kentucky)- The 2nd best freshman behind Davis. One of the most versatile players in the country.
5.Jeremy Lamb (UConn)- Lamb knows how to rise up his game in March he did it last season in UConn’s run to the title.
Power Forwards
1.Thomas Robinson (Kansas) – Robinson is the most dominate low post scorer in the country. He is also probably the strongest too. He would have my vote for Player of the Year.
2.Doug McDermott (Creighton) – McDermott is the nation’s third leading scorer. He is also a very good three point shooter and rebounder.
3.Kevin Jones (West Virginia) – If West Virginia had a better record Jones would have been the Big East Player of the Year.
4.Mike Scott (Virginia)- Finished 2nd in the ACC Player of the Year Voting. He is a one-man show for the Cavs.
5.John Henson (North Carolina) – If he is healthy he is the 2nd best defender in college basketball. Henson improved his all-around offensive game.
Centers
1.Anthony Davis (Kentucky) – Davis will be the Player, Freshman, and Defensive Player of the Year.
2.Jared Sullinger (Ohio State) – Sullinger is hot now, in his last three games he has scored 30, 24, and 18 points.
3.Tyler Zeller (North Carolina) – After a slow start Zeller picked it up during conference play and was named the ACC Player of the Year. Zeller has the best jump hook in college basketball.
4.Cody Zeller (Indiana) – Zeller is what Indiana has been lacking: a dominant low post scorer.
5.Andrew Nicholson (St. Bonaventure) – Nicholson is coming of a 70 points and 30 rebounds performance in the A-10 Tournament. He is likely a 1st round pick.
