Which College Stars didn’t get Drafted?

Published on June 27, 2011 by Scott Shirley   ·   1 Comment

With the 2011 NBA in the books; I came up with a list of some college stars that were not drafted. For whatever reason from being too small, to having character issues, and to not being athletic enough these players were not drafted. These players still produced in college; that’s what should matter not how tall they are. All of these names should be names that college basketball fans have heard of.

PG Ben Hansbrough (Notre Dame)- Hansbrough was the Big East Player of the Year last season. He averaged 18 points per game and 4 assists.

PG Jacob Pullen (Kansas State)- Averaged 19 and 20 points per game his last 2 seasons in college.

SG David Lighty (Ohio State)- 4-year starter at Ohio State; Lighty is an excellent defender and still averaged 12 points per game last season.

C Rick Jackson (Syracuse)- Jackson was a double double machine; averaging 13 points and 9 rebounds last season.

SG Scotty Hopson (Tennessee)- Averaged 17 points last season; character issues likely cost him not getting drafted.

PG Corey Fisher (Villanova)- Fisher averaged 15 points and 4 assists last season; he is very quick.

SG LaceDarius Dunn (Baylor)- Averaged 19 points per game last season, but has major character concerns.

C Matt Howard (Butler)- Led Butler to back to back title games; averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds last season.

PG Taylor Battle (Penn State)- 4 year starter; did everything for Penn State; averaged 20 points per game last season.  He was likely too small.

PF Jamie Skeen (VCU)- Was a star for VCU in the Tournament; averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds last season.

SG Jeremy Hazell (Seton Hall)- Averaged 22,20,19 points per game his last 3 seasons at Seton Hall.

PG Kalin Lucas (Michigan State)- Was the Big Ten Player of the Year his sophomore year, but injuries have drawn concerns for his durability.

SG Austin Freeman (Georgetown)- Freeman averaged 17 points per game last season; he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes while he was at Georgetown.

Other Players that went undrafted

SF Jereme Richmond (Illinois)

PG Demetri McCamey (Illinois)

PF Chris Wright (Dayton)

SF Malcolm Thomas (San Diego State)

PF Delroy James (Rhode Island)

SG Brad Wanamaker (Pitt)

SG Ravon Johnson (Mississippi State)

C Matthew Bryan-Amaning (Washington)
