If you look up the word clutch in a dictionary you will see a picture of Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant. In the Lakers 94 to 92 win over the Toronto Raptors yesterday Bryant was money when the game was on the line.
For the game Bryant didn’t have a great game 27 points (9 of 23 from the field) , 4 turnovers , 1 assist and only 2 rebounds. However, when the game was on the line Bryant was unstoppable. Let’s take a look what Bryant did down the stretch where he did a little bit of everything.
- With the Lakers down 4 Bryant hit a three pointer with a minute left to cut the Lakers deficit to 1 90-89
- On the following possession Bryant got a steal and then dribbled the ball down court and fed Metta World Peace for a wide open layup. This gave the Lakers a 1 point lead.
- Jose Calderon hit a shot to give the Raptors a 1 point lead. Then with 7 seconds left the Lakers were taking the ball out of bounds on the side lines. Bryant received a pass near the three point and dribbled once then he rose up and nailed the jump shot to give the Lakers a 1 point lead.
- Bryant also hit 1 three free throw late to give the Lakers 94-92 win.
This is why Bryant is still the best player in the NBA. He is at his best when the game is on the line. Everyone in the gym knew that Bryant was getting the last shot and he still made it. Can you remember the last time LeBron James was clutch?
