Non Conference play is over, and now it is time for conference play. Now is when we separate the contenders from the pretenders. Who are the players who played the best in the non conference? Below I will release my All Conferences teams so far on this young season. The list will probably be a lot different at the end of the season. Look for my next update at the midpoint of the conference season.
Today I release my all Big East Conference teams.
1st Team
F Kevin Jones, West Virginia ( Sr.)- Jones has taken his game to another level so far. He is averaging a double double on the season. He leads the Big East in points (21.2 ) and rebounding (11.9).
G Jeremy Lamb, Connecticut (Soph.)- Lamb continues his hot play from last season into this season. He is averaging 18.9 points per game. Lamb is a very versatile scorer.
F Kris Joseph, Syracuse (Sr.) – Joseph leads the number 1 team in the country in scoring (14.5). Look for his scoring average to increase during Big East play. Also averaging 5.4 rebounds.
G Darius Johnson-Odom, Marquette (Sr.) – Continues to be one of the most underrated players in the country. Odom is 5th in the Big East in scoring (17.9). He also puts up good rebound and assist numbers.
F Herb Pope, Seton Hall (Sr.) – So far on this young season Pope has been playing up to his potential. Pope is second in the Big East in both points (20.3) and rebounding (11.4).
2nd Team
G Ashton Gibbs, Pittsburgh ( Sr.) – Leads the Big East with 2.8 threes made per game. However he is only shooting 37 % from three; he shot 48% last season.
F Cleveland Melvin, DePaul (Soph. )- There is no sophomore slump for the Big East Freshman of the Year last season. He is 4th in the Big East in scoring (18.5 ). Melvin is also averaging 6.5 rebounds on the season.
F Jae Crowder, Marquette ( Sr.) – Crowder is an undersized forward who produces. So far this season he is averaging 17.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Crowder is also shooting 39 % from three.
GShabazz Napier, UConn (Soph.)- Without Kemba Walker Napier has picked up his play. On the season he is averaging 15.5 points and 6.7 assists per game. He is also shooting 43 % from three.
G Jordan Theodore, Seton Hall (Sr.) – Theodore is leading the Big East in assists so far with 7. 3 per game. Besides being a passing point guard Theodore also knows how to score (15.7).
3rd Team
G Maalik Wayns, Villanova (Jr.) – Villanova has been disappointing on the season but not Wayns. He is averaging 17.4 points and 5.2 assists on the season.
G Jason Clark, Georgetown (Sr.) – Clark is the leader of the surprising Hoyas this season. He is averaging 15.7 points on the season, while making 2 threes per game.
G Vincent Council, Providence (Jr.)- Last season Council led the Big East in assists, so far this season he is second in the league with 6.9. Council can also score the ball, he is 10th in the Big East in scoring (16.9).
G Darryl Bryant, West Virginia (Sr.)- Bryant is 11th in the Big East in scoring (16.3 ). To take his game to the next level he will need to improve his assist numbers.
G Brandon Young, DePaul (Soph.)- Young is 6th in the Big East in scoring with 17.4 points. He is also dishing out 4.8 assists per game.
