Along with my top 100 countdown I will also feature a ton of previews. Like the top players at each position, All Conference teams, top players by class, top games, previewing the early season tournaments and much more.

Who will put at number 1? Louisville or Indiana or maybe a surprise stay tuned to Roundballchat for the next month to find out.

#58 Georgia Tech

Coach: Brain Gregory (1 season at Georgia Tech 11-20) Overall 183-114, 9 years

2011-12: Record 11-20 overall, 4-12 in ACC (Tie 9th)

Starters Returning (5) Mfon Udofia, Daniel Miller, Jason Morris, Brandon Reed, Kammeon Holsey

Preseason Tournament: Anaheim Classic

Top Non-Conference Games: at Illinois, vs. Georgia

Transfer Out: Nate Hicks (Florida Gulf Coast)

Transfer In : Stacey Poole (Kentucky-eligible midseason)

Gone: Glen Rice Jr. (Kicked off team)

As expected last season was a rebuilding year for 1st year head coach Brain Gregory. Last season Gregory dismissed their best player Glen Rice Jr. With the being said the Yellow Jackets return 6 of their top 8 scorers from last season and 5 starters. The bad news those starters went just 4-12 in the ACC. They also bring in a very solid recruiting class. I think it won’t take Gregory that long to get this program back on the upswing.

Leading the Yellow Jackets in the frontcourt will be Kammeon Holsey (9.4 ppg). Holsey really improved last season and he was easily the Yellow Jackets most improve player. Joining him in the frontcourt is center Daniel Miller (8.1 ppg). Miller led Georgia Tech in rebounds and blocks. He is the second most block shots of any current active ACC players. The Yellow Jackets have some big time talent as depth. Leading the way will be the highly touted Robert Carter. Carter knows how to score in the low block. Also providing depth is Julian Royal (4.4 ppg), who was the top man off the bench last season.

Running the point guard duties will be Mfon Udofia (9.9 ppg). After a disappointing first two season at Georiga Tech, Udofia had his best season under Gregory last year. The returning starters on the wings will be Jason Morris (7.8 ppg) and Brandon Reed (7.5 ppg). Reed is probably Tech’s best shooter but as a team they really struggled to shot the three. Reed and Morris will get pushed by two talented freshman Marcus Hunt and Chris Bolden. Hunt is a very explosive player. Providing depth at point guard will be Pierre Jordan (1.5 ppg). This unit will get a boost when Kentucky transfer Stacey Poole gets eligible mid season.
