Colorado Buffaloes – #3 Pac 12 college basketball power rankings

Published on January 2, 2013 by Scott Shirley   ·   No Comments

Coach: Tad Boyle (2 seasons at Colorado 48-26) Overall 104-92, 6 years

2011-12: Record 24- 12 overall, 11-7 in Pac 12 (Tie 5th)

Starters Returning (2) Andre Roberson, Spencer Dinwiddle

Preseason Tournament: Charleston Classic

Top Non-Conference Games: vs. Colorado State, at Kansas

Transfer Out: Shannon Sharpe (Cal Poly Pomona)

What a season Tab Boyle and the Colorado Buffaloes had in their first year in the Pac 12. They had a so so regular season but they turned it up in post season play. They won the Pac 12 tournament and therefore had a berth in the big dance. In doing so in was Colorado first back to back 24 winning seasons in school history. The Buffaloes lose their top scorer but they return 3 of their top 5 scorers from last year’s team. Boyle also bring in a talented freshman class.

Leading the way for the Buffaloes will be power forward Andre Roberson (11. 6 ppg). He averaged a double double last season and finished 3rd in the nation in rebounding. Roberson tied the league for block shots in the Pac 12 and led his team in steals. He even added a three point shot to his arsenal. Still he is very underrated nationally. Likely starting at center will be freshman Josh Scott. Scott is a top 100 recruit from Colorado. Providing depth for the Buffaloes will be Shane Harris-Tunks(2.7 ppg) and freshman Wesley Gordon.

Shooting guard Spencer Dinwiddie (10 ppg) leads Colorado in the backcourt. He started every game last season as a freshman. Dinwiddie is the Buffaloes best shooter by far; he shot over 43 % from behind the arch last season. Joining him in the backcourt is point guard Askia Booker(9.1 ppg). Booker was the top option off the bench last season. Look for a breakout year for him this season easily scoring in double figures. Three players will battle for the 3 spot. Those players are JUCO Jeremy Adams, and freshman Xavier Johnson, Chris Jenkins. Johnson is a top 100 recruit. Providing depth at the two guard spots will be Sabatino Chen (2 ppg) and freshman Eli Stalzer.
