The Lakers and Clippers just started to heat up last season. The Clippers won the first game last season against the Lakers and the next game went to the Lakers getting their revenge on the Clippers winning 96 -91. At the end of the game there was some tension between some players. There was also some interesting post game quotes Every rivalry needs tension and what happened at the end of the last game will only add more hype to the next time they play. Let’s face it this game hasn’t been a rivalry in years until this year.
The Lakers were up by four with one second left and the Clippers fouled Lakers star big men Pau Gasol. As the teams walked up the court Los Angeles Clipper star point guard Chris Paul and Gasol started to exchange some words. They kept on talking back and forth for a while until Gasol put his hands on Paul’s head. Clearly Paul didn’t like this as his reaction showed it.
While this indecent happen months ago apparently Paul is still not over it. Here is what he told GQ in a recently interview with the magazine.
“We call that sonnin’,” Paul said. “Like when I take Li’l Chris to the bathroom, I’ll walk with my hand on his head. That’s my son. You know what I mean? I understand that Gasol is that tall, but don’t do to me what I do to my son.”
This was Paul’s and Gasol’s reaction right after it happened.
Thanks to the Los Angeles Times that has the quotes from after the game.
“He touched the top of my head, and I didn’t like that,” said Paul, who nearly landed with the Lakers last month before the NBA squelched the deal. “You know what I mean. I don’t know if Pau’s got kids, but don’t touch my head like I’m one of your kids. I don’t know what his intentions were, like, ‘I’ll treat him like little Chris.’ I don’t know if he’s got kids, but I’m not one of them.”
Gasol, who has no kids, insisted he was misunderstood.
“I’m sorry he felt that way,” the Spanish 7-footer said. “I do that all the time with my teammates. Nothing mean about it.”
