Anthony Davis forgets to put his jersey on

Published on August 3, 2012 by Scott Shirley   ·   No Comments

Anthony Davis has had quite the past year but during yesterday’s Team USA blowout of Nigeria the superstar was embarrassed big time.

Shouldn’t it be easy to remember to part your jersey on before the game? Well, Davis forgot to put it on before the US game with Nigeria. Sad part is Davis didn’t even realize it until he went to check into the scorer’s table. Then he quickly realized that he never put his jersey on after the warm ups.

So Mike Krzyzewski had no choice but to sit Davis for the 1st half. Davis ended up playing most of the second half. Too bad for Davis because he could have also gotten a lot of meaningful playing time in the 1st half because the US won by a blowout of 156-73.

As you would expect many of Davis teammates gave him grief for this. You could see Kevin Love and Kobe Bryant laughing on the bench about this. It doesn’t help that Davis is also a rookie and has not even played a game in the NBA.

Early Friday morning Love tweeted the following with the photo below.

Look very closely at this photo…notice anything? The Rookie Didn’t put his jersey on!!! instagr.am/p/N3W_elM9y6/

For the game Davis finished with 9 points and 6 rebounds. He was 4 for 4 from the field. He likely would have had a double double if he remembered to put his jersey on.

Still though, Davis is on top of the world. He was just Freshman and Player of the Year in college basketball. His Kentucky team won the national championship and he went on to be the 1st pick overall in this year’s draft by the Hornets.
