Cavs the third team in the Dwight Howard to Lakers trade?

When the Brooklyn Nets pulled out of the Dwight Howard trade talks the rumors about the Magic traded him stop for a couple of days. Now, there is another new trade rumor involving Howard.

The talks are between three teams the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. In the deal the Lakers would receive Howard. The Cavs would receive Lakers center Andrew Bynum and the Magic would receive the Cavs Anderson Varejao and a bunch of draft picks.

Here is the latest from Ric Bucher ESPN the Magazine.

The Cleveland Cavaliers may have inched ahead of the Houston Rockets as a facilitator in a potential trade that would send Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers, sources said Wednesday. One source familiar with the talks, though, cautioned not to make too much of that shift just yet…

The Cavaliers would land Lakers center Andrew Bynum for a package of draft picks and veteran power forward Anderson Varejao, according to one league source. The Lakers would receive Howard for Bynum. Orlando would get Varejao and draft picks. The source said this was merely the framework of a deal being discussed.

All along I thought if Howard didn’t end up in Brooklyn that he would end up with the Lakers. I can’t really see Howard getting traded to Houston.

The reason why the Lakers have the best chance to get Howard is because they have the best asset in Bynum.

Obviously this would be a great deal for the Lakers but same can be said for the Cavs. A one-two punch of star point guard Kryie Irving and Bynum.

The losers of this deal would be the Magic because they are not getting Bynum in return.
