Penn State basketball has been close this season, but this time they finished against Ohio State. The Nittany Lions have dropped 3 Big Ten games in the final second this year.
The star for Penn State was no doubt DJ Newbill. With Ohio State up 3 in regulation, Newbill hit a three pointer to tie the game and send it into overtime.
With the game doing down to the wire in overtime, Newbill layup under a minute cut the OSU lead to 1. The after an OSU turnover, PSU had the ball with 14 seconds, and it was time for Newbill to do his magic.
Newbill went up head to head with Aaron Craft, one of the best defenders in the game. Newbill crossed him over and made the game winning jump shot in Craft face.
“There were 11 seconds left, we were down by one. I just cleared out one side of the floor,” Newbill said. “I knew they were going to try to stop me from going to the right because they’d been shading me left the whole game. I just made a quick, right-to-left crossover and pulled up with confidence. Fortunately, it went down.”
