It was a shock to everyone that Oklahoma State point guard Marcus Smart did not declare for the NBA draft and decided to return to school. It was a shock to everyone because this year draft was weak and Smart was a lock for a top 5 pick.
That being said I admire for Smart returning to school. It make college basketball better and I wish more players would return to school. Many players leave too early and aren’t ready for the NBA. While in college they can improved in all areas as well as mature.
After USA Basketball practice, Smart basically said this will be his last year in college and will enter next year’s NBA draft.
“It’s safe to say that if, by the grace of God I’m healthy and everything, this will be my last year at Oklahoma State,” Smart said after USA Basketball’s minicamp practice Tuesday at UNLV. “Nothing will change my mind on that. [Oklahoma State] understands. They didn’t figure I was coming back this year. They were just as surprised as everyone else.”
Hopefully for Smart he has another solid season and will remain a top 5 pick
