March Madness Rumors: FGCU coach Andy Enfield has put his house up for Sale

The Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles are one of the hottest stories in recent years and are enjoying their record setting run into the Sweet Sixteen in this year’s NCAA Tournament. The Eagles coach Andy Enfield has grabbed the media’s attention, conducting multiple interviews after their win last night and sharing stories on the national stage about dating his model wife.

There was a story which broke last night by a Fort Myers NBC station which said that the university was already scrambling to try to find money in order to give Enfield a contract extension and reward him with a raise. Now, a South Florida gossip site reports that Enfield’s house is reportedly on the market, for less than he paid for it less than two years ago.

Gossipextra.com has a link which shows that Enfield’s residence, in the South Fort Myers sub-division known as Renaissance is up for sale. The site reports that the original purchase price was $750,000 and the 3,400 square-foot house is now on the market for $675,000.

Now everyone and their brother are scrambling to dig up information on the college basketball team which plays about 15 minutes from my house. There is no mention here on the gossip site as to when the house was listed. It was certainly listed prior to the remarkable run by the Eagles in the NCAA Tourney.

This could be nothing more than the coach deciding he wanted to move. After all, it is peak tourist season in SW Florida, what better time to put your house up for sale. However, the university should be very concerned about the future of Enfield remaining with the Eagles, especially if the team can pull off another remarkable win over the Florida Gators this Friday.

There are coaching vacancies at USC, UCLA and now this afternoon, Minnesota. FGCU should be very worried to possibly lose the hottest coaching commodity in the NCAA right now. There is no way that Enfield could have anticipated the Eagles success, but was he planning on moving on from the school after this season?
