College Basketball Plays 3/6

Published on March 7, 2013 by Scott Shirley   ·   No Comments

Must Plays:

Jordan McRae (Tennessee)- McRae is by far the hottest player in the country right now. In his last 4 games he has scored 34, 23, 27, and 35 points. He made 8 threes last time out. McRae should stay on his hot streak against a very bad Auburn team.

Shane Larkin (Miami)- At the moment Larkin is the ACC Player of the Year. Larkin is coming off back to back 20 point games. He is tough to guard because of his shooting ability and his quickness to get to the rim. Larking should go off against a very average Georgia Tech team.

Shabazz Muhammad (UCLA)- The true freshman is just a flat out scorer. What makes him tough is he can score in a multiple of ways. On the season he is averaging 18 ppg and 5 rpg. He has scored in double figures in 12 straight games. Last time the Bruins played Washington State he finished with 17 points. His head coach already announced Muhammad is headed to the NBA.

Otto Porter Jr. (Georgetown)- Porter is the Hoyas offense. With his play of late he has put his name in the National Player of the Year race. In his last 3 games Porter is averaging 27. 6 ppg and 7 rpg in his last 3 games. He has scored in double figures in all but 2 games this season.

Value Plays:

Anthony Collins (South Florida) – Collins is coming off the best game of his season in which he scored 16 points and dished out 4 assists. He basically plays the whole game for the lowly Bulls.

Devin Thomas (Wake Forest)- The freshman is coming off a game in which he scored 17 points and brought down 7 rebounds versus Maryland. Last time he played North Carolina State he finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds.

Marcus Paige (North Carolina)- The freshman is finally living up to the hype. Paige has scored in double figures in 2 out his last 3 games. He is also averaging 7 apg in his last 3 games.

Think About Sitting:

Josh Huestis (Stanford)- Huestis has cooled off of late. In his last two games he has only scored 4 points in both.

Travis Wear (UCLA)- Wear has been bothered by an injury, and therefore he is not getting the minutes. He has only reached double figures once in his last 5 games.

Shavon Coleman (LSU)- The freshman is not getting the minutes he was earlier in the season. Coleman has only reached double figures twice in his last 8 games.

Injury Update:

Jio Fontan and Ari Stewart are questionable for USC.

Travis Wear is still playing limited minutes for UCLA.

Mike Ladd is out for Washington State.

Will Yeguete and Michael Frazier are back for Florida.

Buddy Hield is out for Oklahoma.

Nik Stauskas will be back for Michigan.
