Must Plays:
Otto Porter (Georgetown)- While the Hoyas aren’t exactly a offensive juggernaut, Porter is there offense. Porter has scored over 20 points in 2 of the last 5 games. Porter is also averaging about 8 rpg. He should go off against a very bad DePaul team.
Michael Carter-Williams (Syracuse)- How this player didn’t hardly play at all last season is beyond me. All he is doing this season is leading the nation in assists. Besides being a great passer he can also score the ball. In his last two games he is averaging 15.3 ppg. With his size he also gets his share of rebounds. Last time he played Providence he finished with 17 points and 6 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Marcus Smart(Oklahoma State) – While he doesn’t get the attention; he is the best true freshman in the country. He has scored 20 plus points in 4 of his last 6 games. Smart fills up the stat sheet. He averages about 6 rpg and 5 apg. Last time out he put 28 points versus Oklahoma. Just a couple of weeks ago in the Cowboys upset of Kansas, Smart finished with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Now, Smart gets the Jayhawks at home.
Value Plays:
Sam Dekker (Wisconsin)- The freshman has stepped it up lately. He has scored in double figures in his last 3 games, and his playing time has increased. Have to like the match up here against a depleted Northwestern team, especially in the frontcourt.
Wille Cauley-Stein (Kentucky)- Yes, I know a lot of people probably got burned last time out with picking Stein, but the whole Kentucky team stunk. He is still getting all of the playing time for Nerlens Noel. Prior to last game he had scored in double figures in 3 straight games.
Kevin Young (Kansas)- Young is the glue guy for Kansas. He does all the dirty work. If you’re looking for a real cheap option go with Young. He will probably give you 5-10 points and 5-10 rebounds. In his last 4 games Young is averaging 9 ppg and 7.2 rpg.
Think about Sitting:
Frankie Sullivan (Auburn) – Sullivan has struggled of late. He has only scored in double figures in 1 out of his last 4 games. Last time out he only played 19 minutes.
Kentucky- A bunch of Kentucky players are really struggling now. Alex Poythress minutes keep going down and down. He has scored in double figures in 5 games. Point guard Ryan Harrow hasn’t scored in the last 2 games at all. Archie Goodwin hasn’t scored in double figures in his last 3 games.
Nick Johnson (Arizona)- Johnson is in a big time shooting slump. He hasn’t scored in double figures in 5 straight games.
Injury update:
Nerlens Noel (Kentucky) is out for the year.
Jared Swopshire (Northwestern) is out for the year.
DaJaun Coleman (Syracuse) is still out for a while.
Buddy Hield (Oklahoma) is out with a broken foot.
Antonio Barton (Memphis) is also out with a broken foot.
