A few days ago the fans of the Miami Heat were in panic mode. A season that started off so seamlessly had a month of March that resembled nine rings of Hell. After losing to the Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic and a host of other contenders it became clear that this tough March was taking its toll.
Heat fans can make all the excuses they want, but the answer was simple: These guys are tired. A team comprised of a few young guns in their prime surrounded by olden vets will crumble in a back-to-back-to-back format when all that lies on the bench are guys whose careers began before some of these youngsters were born. With SG Dwyane Wade’s knees giving him pain and PF Chris Bosh wearing down the ideal went from securing the top seed to winning when they could.
Of course, the Miami Heat dispelled this notion that their regular season struggles would provide a microcosm for the post-season by smashing through the Eastern Conference and being a few minutes away from an NBA title. With teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder looming out West, there is no sure thing with this team, but on talent alone, a rested Miami Heat will give anyone fits.
The Heat understand that rest will be the key to a title, thereby planning in the future to sit Dwyane Wade and or Chris Bosh to prepare for the real season. The Heat now have a post-season berth and are primed to make a huge run.
“Statement” games are far and few in the regular season, but if any statement was made, it is that LeBron James is the lone MVP for this league, and the Miami Heat will bring it when they want to.
