Shabazz Muhammad leads West to victory in McDonald’s All-American game

The West beat the East 106-102 in the 35th McDonald’s high school All American Game at Chicago’s United Center.

The game featured 24 of the best high school basketball players in the country. Some of the top players around the country were not eligible for this game because of them being 5th year players. Shabazz Muhammad without question was the player of the court.

Muhammad scored 21 points, and was named MVP of the game.  He has yet to commit to a school yet.  He will announce on April 11th. Right now it appears he is focusing on three schools Kentucky, Duke and UCLA.  Duke recruit Rasheed Sulaimon added 18 for the Sulaimon was 4 of 8 from 3-point range.

“When you come to every event you want to be known as the best player at the event,” Muhammad said. “This is the elite 24, the top 24 guys in the country, so just coming in knowing that and trying to compete and everybody is competing is a beautiful thing.”

For the East Alex Poythress, a Kentucky recruit had 19 points.  Rodney Purvis an NC State recruit finished with 15 points.

Only 5 of the 25 players have not committed to a school yet. Shocking NC State had the most players in the game with 3, and Arizona and Kentucky follow with 2. All other schools had 1 player in the game.

The ACC leads all conferences with 5 players in the game followed by the Big 12 (4), Pac 12 (3), and Big Ten, Big East, and SEC (2). Memphis is the only non-power 6 conference with a player in the game.
