All professional Al l Star games are jokes, the players don’t give maximum effort especially on defense. I would rather watch the slam dunk contest then the game itself. The game has become an event not a game. Major League baseball is the only league that has results of the all star game meaning something. The winner of the game gets home field advantage for their league in the World Series. Now Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timeberwolves would like the NBA to adopt the rule as baseball.
Here is what Love told Jon Krawczynski of the Associated Press.
Love said he thinks NBA should follow MLB’s lead and give homecourt adv. in finals to All-Star winner. Thinks it would ratchet up intensity
Sorry Love but I think this would be a horrible idea for the NBA. First off home court advantage in the NBA finals should go to the best team. It should not be decided by the conference winner of the All Star game.
Second the new outcome of the MLB All Star game really hasn’t made the All Star that much better it is still a joke. Most players only play a couple of innings or pitch one inning.
Third is how would the coaches handle the playing time of the players. If the winner of the game gets home court advantage for their conference would the coaches play the best players for most of the game. You think the general managers and owners of the NBA teams would like this? This could cause injury. Also the more intense the game the more likely for an injury.
I don’t think this will ever happen but if it does it would be a horrible idea.
