Published on November 3, 2011 by Scott Shirley   ·   5 Comments

College basketball is right around the corner. Games will be starting in a week or so. College basketball might be the only game in town, which will give even more attention to the college game. I can’t wait for this upcoming season.

In the next few days I will be releasing my all conference teams for the power six conferences. Today I release my All Big East teams. Yesterday is was the ACC.

1st Team

G Ashton Gibbs, Pittsburgh (16.8 ppg) (6-2/190, Sr.) – Is one of the best shooters in the nation in not the best. He shot 49% from behind the arch last season.

G Jeremy Lamb, Connecticut (11.1 ppg) (6-5/180, Soph.)- Became a star in Uconn’s run to the title last year. One word to describe his offensive game is smooth. Lamb also averaged 4.5 rebounds.

F Kris Joseph, Syracuse (14.3 ppg) (6-7/210, Sr.) – Does a little bit of everything for Syracuse. Last season he averaged 5.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals. Look for bigger numbers this season.

G Darius Johnson-Odom, Marquette (15.8 ppg) (6-2/215, Sr.) – Might be the most underrated player in the country. He is a hard worker who finds a way to score. Also averaged 3 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

F Tim Abromaitis, Notre Dame (15.4 ppg) (6-8/236, Sr.) – Was the 2nd leading scorer and rebounder (6.1) on the Irish last season. Abromaitis can also stroke it from three.

2nd Team

F Kevin Jones, West Virginia (13.1 ppg) (6-8/260, Sr.)- Is one of the steadiest players in the country; he also averaged 7.2 rebounds. Is a very versatile scorer, who excels at the mid range game.

G Maalik Wayns, Villanova (13.8 ppg) (6-2/200, Jr.) – One of the quickest players in the country. He can get to the rim of the dribble with ease. He also knows how to get his teammates involved. He averaged 4.4 assists last season.

G Jason Clark, Georgetown (12 ppg) (6-2/170, Sr.) – Clark does a little bit of everything for the Hoyas. Last season he had 3.9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.4 steals. Those numbers should go up for this season.

G Scoop Jardine, Syracuse (12.5 ppg) (6-2/190, Sr.) – Was second in the Big East in assists with 5.9 per game. Became a legit three-point threat last season.

F Yancy Gates, Cincinnati (11.9 ppg) (6-9/265, Sr.)- Gates will be a four year starter for the Bearcats. He led his team in points, rebounds (6.9), blocks (1.9), and field goal percentage last season (.511).

3rd Team

G Peyton Siva, Louisville (9.9 ppg) (5-11/175, Jr.) – Siva was second in the Big East in steals (2) and forth in assists (5.2 ) last season. He is a great penetrater but needs to shoot better from outside.

F Augustus Gilchrist, South Florida (13.4 ppg) (6-10/245, Jr.)- Is a very athletic big guy who knows how to score around the rim. Also a solid rebounder and defender.

C Andre Drummond, Connecticut (6-10/270, Fr.) – The Huskies got a gift when Drummond decided to enroll early. He has great size, length, athleticism, that allows him to dominate the post.

G Vincent Council, Providence (13.7ppg) (6-2/180, Jr.)- Council led the Big East in assists last season. He also had 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals.

F Cleveland Melvin, DePaul (14.3 ppg) (6-8/205, Soph.)- Was the Big East Freshman of the Year. He was the lone star for the Blue Demons. Melvin also shot a high percentage from the floor.
