My All Big 12 Conference Teams

Published on November 4, 2011 by Scott Shirley   ·   3 Comments

College basketball is right around the corner. Games will be starting in a week or so. College basketball might be the only game in town, which will give even more attention to the college game. I can’t wait for this upcoming season.

In the next few days I will be releasing my all conference teams for the power six conferences. I already released my all Big East, Big Ten and ACC teams. Now here is my all Big 12 teams.

1st Team

F Perry Jones, Baylor (13.9 ppg) (6-11/235, Soph.) – Jones was the first player at Baylor ever to earn Freshman All-America honors. To go along with his points he also averaged 7.2 rebounds. Jones is a top 5 player nationally and the preseason favorite to be Big 12 Player of the Year. Jones may be tall, but he plays like and has the skills of a guard

F Khris Middleton, Texas A&M (14.4 ppg)(6-7/210, Jr.) – Besides being a top defensive player; Middleton was the Aggies best offensive threat last season. Middleton also averaged 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 steals. He was a much better shooter last year than in his freshman season.

F Thomas Robinson, Kansas (7.6 ppg) (6-9/237, Jr.) – Came off the bench last season, and was playing behind the Morris twins. He had better offensive and defensive rebounding numbers per minutes played than both of the Morris twins. Expect his numbers to double this season.

G Marcus Denmon, Missouri (16.9 ppg) (6-3/185, Sr.) – He scored in double figures 30 times out of 34 games last season. He also shot an impressive 44.8 % from deep. He also ranked 3rd in the Big 12 in steals. He also recorded 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

G LeBryan Nash, Oklahoma State (6-7/230, Fr.) - I can’t help but compare Nash, to Ron Artest of the Lakers minus the craziness and little better athletic ability. He already has a NBA body with his size, length, and strength. He can really get to the rim, and when he does he is a highlight dunker.

2nd Team

G Rodney McGruder, Kansas State (11.1 ppg) (6-4/205, Jr.) – His points per game should go way up with Jacob Pullen gone. Led the team in rebounding despite being a guard. Also shot 40.8 % from behind the arc.

G Tyshawn Taylor, Kansas (9.3 ppg) (6-3/185, Sr.) – Taylor will be a 4-year starter at Kansas. Was 4th in the Big 12 in assists last season with 4.6 per game. Also shot a career best 38 % from three. His scoring numbers should go up with the star players the Wildcats lose.

F Quincy Acy, Baylor (12.4 ppg) (6-7/225, Sr.) – To go along with his points Acy also averaged 7.6 rebounds last season. Acy knows how to finish around the rim. Right now he is second in school history in career field goal percentage.

F David Loubeau, Texas A&M (11.8 ppg) (6-8/235, Sr.) – Was on the 3rd team all Big 12 last season, and really came on as the season went on. His offensive game really improved a lot. Also averaged 5 rebounds per game.

G Chris Allen, Iowa State (6-3/205, Sr.) – Allen is a very talented player that transferred to Iowa State from Michigan State. Allen is first known for his deep range shooting ability. He is also an underrated defender and passer.

3rd Team

G J’Covan Brown, Texas (10.4 ppg) (6-1/195, Jr.) – Despite coming off the bench he still scored in double figures. He also averaged 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists, while being a reliable three point shooter. Brown will be the first option for the Longhorns this season.

F Andrew Fitzgerald, Oklahoma (12.6 ppg) (6-8/243, Jr.) – Was one of only a few bright spots for the Sooners last season. He is the returning leader in points, rebounds, blocks, and steals for the Sooners.

G Keiton Page, Oklahoma State (13.2 ppg) (5-9/165, Sr.) – Page, the point guard is the leader and emotional lift for his team. He knows how to score even though he shoots a low percentage. He made the most threes for the Cowboys last season by far. Also averaged 1.7 assists.

G Michael Dixon, Missouri (10.3 ppg) (6-1,185, Jr.) – Dixon is a very smart speedy point guard. He also averaged 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.8 steals. He also improved his three point shooting up to 38.8 %.

G Myck Kabongo, Texas (6-2,170, Fr.) - Kabongo is the best true point guard in the incoming freshman class. He is a gifted ball handler, which allows him to penetrate and find the wide-open guy with his court vision, and he can also breakdown his defender 1 on 1.
