While the NBA players and owners continue to talk with no success, the players are putting together a two-week tour around the world. This will take place during the first two weeks of the NBA season, which was canceled. While the details are stilling being workout it will likely be a six game trip spanning 4-differnet continents.
There are many stars likely to the tour including Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Bosh, Rajon Rondo, Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, Carlos Boozer, Paul Pierce, Kevin Durant, Kevin Garnett and Kevin Love.
According to Chris Broussard of ESPN the Magazine a Atlanta business man is putting the trip together:
Atlanta business mogul Calvin Darden has been putting the tour together with the players’ agents for nearly three months. He has already obtained signed contracts from Bryant, Wade, Bosh, Griffin, Rondo and Pierce. Sources say he’s hoping to complete the rest of the agreements, along with insurance requirements, over the next few days.
The trip would begin on October 30th and end on November 9th. They would play games in Puerto Rico, London, Macau, and Australia. They would play two games in Australia and London.
I really this idea, this is a great opportunity for the players too see the world and play in front of big crowds. This will also keep them in great shape, and keep them out of trouble. I think this shows that the owners better get their act together. Who knows maybe the players can form their own league.
