The Miami Heat stars are trying to get about 20 other NBA stars to play in the game. It is going to take place on October, 8th on the campus of Florida International. The head coach at Florida International is, no other than, former hall of famer Isiah Thomas; he will be a coach in this game.
This game is just another sign that the NBA lockout has no end it sight. Shouldn’t the star player be speaking out about the lockout, or trying to organize these pick up type games?
According to Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine the following players will likely play in the game they included stars Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony,Chris Paul , Amare Stoudemire.
Other players include Mario Chalmers, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, the Jamal Crawford Joe Johnson, Jonny Flynn, Eric Bledsoe, Caron Butler, Rudy Gay, Rajon Rondo, Lou Williams, Dorell Wright, Wesley Matthews and Eddy Curry. Some other NBA players might also play in the game.
Florida International’s gym can hold around 5,000 fans. All proceeds from the game will go to charity. The money will go towards educational programs in the South Florida area.
I really love these games; where else can fans get this up close to the players? I think the players really enjoyed them too, and it keeps them in shape and out of trouble. What was also great about this game was in raised money for charity. I wish I was talking about a NBA season though, not pick up games.
