Delonte West finds a Job: Ben Wallace in big trouble

While most players are making news for playing in pick up games or wanting to play overseas, one NBA player is making news in another way. Boston Celtics guard Delonte West, has posted to his Twitter page that he is “now an official employee of Regency Furniture.” On his twitter he also posted pictures of him working on the job and his work application. Check out his twitter page here.

Earlier West made news when he applied to work at Home Depot. He tweeted the following at the time.

It’s official.. Pride 2 the side.. Just filled out a application at Home Depot.. Lockout aint a game..

While many other players are signing to play basketball overseas to earn money, West can’t. A judge told West he can’t leave the country due to his legal problems. Good for West, hopefully this will keep him out of trouble. I like that a pro athlete is working an everyday job.

While most NBA players are staying out of trouble during the lockout. Center Ben Wallace of the Detroit Pistons is not. Wallace was pulled over by police late last Saturday and he is now facing drunk driving and gun charges. The Detroit Free Press explains the events.

The Pistons player was in a 2007 Cadillac Escalade at 3 a.m. Saturday when an officer spotted the SUV driving erratically northbound on Telegraph Road at Long Lake Road, according to the news release. Police had Wallace complete roadside testing, then arrested him on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

When officers searched his car, they discovered an unloaded pistol in a backpack in the “passenger compartment” of the vehicle, according to a press release issued by the police department today.

Wallace was released on $5000 bond, and was picked up by a family member. According to Police Wallace was arraigned on a 93-day misdemeanor charge of drunken driving and a 5 year felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

Wallace has been in the NBA for 15 years now; you have to wonder if he will ever come back to the league. Especially now, because the league is in a lockout. Last year his play really diminished, and his injuries didn’t help. It is not know if Wallace will receive any discipline from the league, because of the lockout .
