Time again for another recruiting report, I had one last week. I will try to keep this a weekly thing. This week there were two big commitments. All these players I am updating on are the class of 2012 meaning they will be playing in college during the 2012-13 season.
A lot of the top players in the class of 2012 have not committed to a school yet. In fact, of the Scout.com top 25; only 3 have committed to a school. There have been a lot of AAU tournaments lately so players have been busy with that, but some of them still had time to make their college choices.
Dominic Artis UCLA – Artis is a point guard, who attends the very well known Findlay Prep in Nevada. Scout.com ranks Artis as the 19th best point guard in the country and his stock is rising; he could be a lot higher by the end of his senior year. As a point guard Artis does everything well from shooting the wide-open jump shot, to his passing ability, and just his overall ball handling skills. The only knock against him is his height. Head coach Ben Howland had UCLA going to final fours right away, but they have struggled for UCLA teams in the last couple of years. Howland needs to keep bringing in top talent to return the Bruins were they belong. Besides Artis UCLA also brought in small forward John Adams who is also a top player in the class of 2012.
Semaj Christon Xavier – Christon decided to stay home and play his college ball at Xavier, he plays his high school basketball at Winton Woods H.S. in Cincinnati. Scout.com rates Christon as the 11th best point guard. As a point guard Christon is very quick with the ball, and he gets into the lane with ease. He also has great passing ability. He really needs to work on his shot. Head coach at Chris Mack continues to bring in top talent Christon also had offers from Louisville and Georgetown. Xavier will be a factor on the national scene for a while. Xavier just got a commit from another class of 2012 star last month in Myles Davis.
