College Basketball Recruiting Report

Published on July 22, 2011 by Scott Shirley   ·   1 Comment

I haven’t had a recruiting report in a while, so I thought it was a good idea to keep everybody up to date with the recent major commitments. All these players I am updating on are class of 2012 players meaning they will be playing in college during the 2012-13 season.

A lot of the top players in the class of 2012 have not committed to a school yet. In fact, of the Scout.com top 25; only 3 have committed to a school. There have been a lot of AAU tournaments lately so players have been busy with that, but some of them still had time to make their college choices.

Myles Davis - Xavier  Davis is a shooting guard who attends Notre Dame Preparatory School in Massachusetts. Davis is a deadly three-point shooter with very deep range. He needs to work on being a better ball handler and attacking the rim. Head coach at Chris Mack continues to bring in top talent Davis’ final two schools were Pitt and Georgetown. Xavier will be a factor on the national seen for a while. Scout.com ranks him as the 19th best shooting guard in the country. He just committed to Xavier this week.

Gabe York - Arizona- York attends Lutheran high school in California. He is ranked a 4 star prospect and the 13th best shooting guard in the country. York is a very explosive athlete who like to attacks the rim. He can also show off his three point shooting skills. He needs to get a little more strength, and work harder on the defense end. Arizona head coach Sean Miller continues to bring in top talent, and is returning Arizona basketball back to the glory days. Arizona should be a top ten team for years to come. York committed to Arizona on July 10th.

Gavin Ware - Mississippi State- Ware decided to stay home and play for Mississippi State. He is a center with great length and athletic ability. He is a very good finisher around the basket with his strength. He needs to improve his offense game especially some post moves he is still very raw. Scout.com ranks Ware as the 20th best center in the country. Mississippi State always seems to have some pretty good teams but not great hopefully for Bulldogs fans Ware can change that. He committed to MSU in late June.

Jordan Adams - UCLA- Adams comes from the very famous Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. Scout.com ranks Adams as the 20th best small forward in the country. As a player Adams, is just a flat out scorer with deep range on his shot. He needs to work on his ball handling skills. Head coach Ben Howland had UCLA going to final fours right away, but they have struggled for UCLA terms in the last couple of years. Howland needs to keep bringing in top talent to return the Bruins were they belong. Adams committed to UCLA in late June.
