With the NBA draft coming up soon, this is my second mock draft of many more updated mock drafts to come. I will change some of my picks as I hear news about certain players and teams. The 2011 NBA draft is considered by many experts to be one of the weakest drafts in recent memory; we will just have to wait 5 years from now to see if it is a weak draft.
1. Cleveland Cavaliers – PG Kyrie Irving Duke- Even though he was hurt most of the college season; he is still the best player in this year’s NBA draft. Baron Davis isn’t the long term option for the Cavaliers at point guard.
2. Minnesota Timberwolves - SF/PF Derrick Williams Arizona- If Irving is the consensus number 1 pick, than Williams is the consensus number 2 pick. Williams shoots a high percentage and has special athletic talents.
3. Utah Jazz – PG Brandon Knight Kentucky- The Jazz have always had a great point guard from John Stockton to Deron Williams. With Williams now gone the Jazz need an elite point guard and Knight gives them that.
4. Cleveland Cavaliers – C Jonas Valanciunas Lithuania- With the Cavaliers already taken a point guard, they now need a top post player. Valanciunas is strong in the middle and has excellent post moves.
5. Toronto Raptors – PG Kemba Walker UConn – The Raptors need a franchise point guard. Walker will bring a lot of excitement to Toronto, which is needed to keep the fans coming out.
6. Washington Wizards – C/PF Enes Kanter Kentucky- Besides John Wall the Wizards can use help anywhere especially in the frontcourt. If Kanter played in college this year he might have been the best player in college.
7. Sacramento Kings – SF Kawhi Leonard San Diego State- Sacramento needs helps at the small forward position. Leonard is a great athlete who is a strong defensive player. He needs to work on his shooting.
8. Detroit Pistons – C Bismack Biyombo Congo- Biyombo can be a big boom or big risk. The Pistons need a top center to replace Ben Wallace. Biyombo could be a nice pair up front with Greg Monroe.
9. Charlotte Bobcats - SF/PF Marcus Morris Kansas- The Bobcats need more scoring out of their frontcourt. Morris is a very skilled offensive player.
10. Milwaukee Bucks – SG Alec Burks Colorado- The Bucks really need some punch for its offense. Burks is a high scoring wing who has great size for a shooting guard.
11. Golden State Warriors – SF/PF Jan Vesely Check Republic- The Warriors are horrible on defense and lack toughness. Vesely is a very intense fiery player that the Warriors need. He needs to work on his offense.
12. Utah Jazz-SG Klay Thompson Washington State-The Jazz need help in the backcourt. Thompson has great size and can play either the 2 or 3. He can really shoot the ball.
13. Phoenix Suns – PF Tristan Thompson Texas- Thompson will be a great player in a couple of years, but he needs a couple of years to develop. Thompson is a great athlete who excels on the defensive end.
14. Houston Rockets –SF/PF Markieff Morris Kansas-Morris gives the Rockets exactly what they need a big guy who can score, rebound, and play defense.
15. Indiana Pacers –PG/SG Jimmer Fredette BYU- This would be a match made in heaven with Fredette playing in the state of Indiana. The Pacers could also use more scoring from the guard position.
16. Philadelphia 76ers – SF Jordan Hamilton Texas-
17. New York Knicks – SF/PF Chris Singleton Florida State
18. Washington Wizards- SF/PF Tobias Harris Tennessee
19. Charlotte Bobcats – SF/PF Tyler Honeycutt UCLA
20. Minnesota Timberwolves –PF Donatas Motiejunas Lithuania
21. Portland Trailblazers- PF/C Nikola Vucevic USC
22. Denver Nuggets – PF Kenneth Faried Morehead St.
23. Houston Rockets – PG Darius Morris Michigan
24. Oklahoma City Thunder – PF Justin Harper Richmond
25. Boston Celtics –SG Marshon Brooks Providence
26. Dallas Mavericks – PF Trey Thompkins Georgia
27. New Jersey Nets – PF JaJaun Johnson Purdue
28. Chicago Bulls – PG/SG Nolan Smith Duke
29. San Antonio Spurs – PG/SG Reggie Jackson Boston College
30. Chicago Bulls- PG/SG Charles Jenkins Hofstra
