With the 2011 NBA draft coming up soon, it’s time to look at the teams needs for the teams in the Southeast Division
With sixth man Jamal Crawford likely not to sign back with the Hawks; the Hawks really need scorers coming off the bench. Crawford is your typical scorer on the wing. Sure current starter Marvin Williams is okay at small forward, but the Hawks could do a lot better. The Hawks really don’t have a capable backup at the position to.
The Hawks could also use a better backup center. Zaza Pachulia, Jason Collins, and Josh Powell aren’t the answer.
The Bobcats traded their best player Gerald Wallace during the middle of last season, and left a big gap at the small forward position. Steven Jackson is currently playing the small forward but he is more of a shooting guard.
The Bobcats really need a center badly. DeSagana Diop is currently the only center signed under contract for next season, who? The Bobcats could also use a deadly three point shooter, as they had one of the worst three point shooting percentages in the league. They could also use a backup point guard.
If you watched the NBA finals you noticed the Heat got nothing out of the center and point guard positions.
Mike Bibby is washed up and not the answer at point guard, Mario Chalmers is a good point guard, but not a starting point guard. The Heat got nothing out of their center position, Joel Anthony is a good defense player but he can’t score at all. The Heat really need a player that can score in the middle.
The Heat could really use better backups for Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. These guys need longer periods of rest.
Shooting guard Jason Richardson is a free agent, and while J.J. Redick can shoot it he is not a starting shooting guard in this league, and you know you can’t count on Gilbert Arenas. The Magic need to get an athletic wing here.
The Magic need to get better at the power forward position Ryan Anderson and Brandon Bass are good players, but neither is a starter. The Magic could also use a backup center for Dwight Howard, they have zero depth here.
The Wizards really lack a true small forward; they played a lot of players there, but no one produced. Rashard Lewis is the only one signed for next season, and his production is going down.
The Wizards really need a backup point guard for John Wall, he played to many minutes in his rookie year. They could also use a back up for starting power forward Andray Blatche.
They could also use a shooter out of this draft as shooting guard Nick Young is really their only threat.
