2014 Final Four: Facts and Notes

The Final Four begins today, here are some of the facts of this years Final Four

2014 Final Four Facts

1. The seed Total of the Final Four teams is 18(Florida-1, Wisconsin-2, UCconn-7, Kentucky-8 ). That is the 4th highest number in the history of the Final Four.

2. Florida has 2 losses on the season, but the 2 losses came to Wisconsin and UConn.

3. Florida point guard Scottie Wilbekin has not committed a turnover in his last 94 minutes of basketball.

4. The only other 8 seed to win the NCAA Title was Villanova in 1985.

5. In its path to the Final Four, Kentucky beat 3 of last year’s Final Four teams

6. If Billy Donovan wins the title he will be one of six coaches to win multiple championships.

7. This is the 1st Final Four were there are no teams making back to back appearances.

8. If John Calipari wins the title he will become just the 15 coach to win multiple titles

9. It took Bo Ryan 15 season to make the Final Four, it took UConn’s Kevin Ollie two years.

10. During the 1999-2000 NBA season John Calipari was an assistant on the 76ers, and Kevin Ollie was the backup point guard.

11. Kentucky is the closest team to North Texas and they have 3 players from Texas on their roster.

12. UConn already played on the court of the Final Four to SMU and they loss.

13. The number overall one seed has only reached the final four 6 out of the last 11 years. (Florida reached the Final Four this year)

14. 21 out of the last 30 years two teams from the same conference have made the final four. (SEC Florida and Kentucky both made it)

15. 11 out of the last 16 winners have won their conference tournament. ( Florida is the only team alive that won conference tournament)
