Marcus Paige hits Game Winner, and scores 31 in 2nd half

Marcus Paige is the best 2nd half player in the country. That was once again on display in North Carolina’s one point overtime victory over NC State.

Paige scored 35 points in the game but the most important of those points came with time close to expiring in overtime. After a TJ Warren free throw to give NC State a 1 point lead, Paige had 7 seconds to do his magic. He took the inbounds pass and drove all the way to the basket and scored a layup as time expired. Check out the shot below.

Paige shot 7 of 12 from three point land. It was the most points by a Tar Heel since Harrison Barnes.

“I think my teammates and I both knew, the way the game was going, the ball needed to be in my hands, whether I was going to shoot it myself or try to make something else happen,” Paige said. “Once I saw a window, the rest is history.”
