Before you know it college basketball season will be starting and North Carolina’s P.J. Hairston hopes to be on the court. Hairston has been the news for college basketball this season. Right now head coach Roy Williams put Hairston under indefinite suspension for multiple run ins.
A week ago the Athletic Director at UNC said Hairston would play at some point this season. Now Hariston told the Daily Tar Heel that he will play this season.
“Yeah, I’ll be on the court,” he said. “I’m not sure how long I’ll have to sit out. I haven’t found out yet, but whatever it is I’m ready for it.”
UNC team spokesman Steve Kirschner said there is no update on Hairston’s playing status.
“I just have to prepare myself mentally,” he said. “Just try to keep myself around positive people for the most part, then just having someone in my ear talking to me and giving me advice. But other than that, I’ve just been trying to stay positive.”
The Tar Heels really need Hairston on the court; he is their returning leading scorer and one of the best three point shooters in the country.
