Transfer In: Tony Chennault (Wake – likely to play immediately); Dylan Ennis (Rice)

Transfer Out: Markus Kennedy (SMU), Ty Johnson

Early Departure: Maalik Wayns; Dominic Cheek

Villanova had a very disappointing season it was the worst record for Jay Wright at Villanova. The Wildcats lose their top 2 scorers from last season. Both of the players left early to enter the NBA draft. Villanova had the worst field goal shooting percentage in the Big East. The positive news the Wildcats return three starters and bring in a very good transfer from Wake Forest.

Villanova returns all three starters in the frontcourt. Leading the way is center Mouphtaou Yarou (11.3 ppg). Yarou is a very effective rebounder but he continues to improve his offensive game. Joining Yarou in the frontcourt is JayVaughn Pinkston (9.6 ppg). Pinkston really showed a lot of promise last year as a freshman he is highly skilled. James Bell (7 ppg) will be the man on the wing. He is a very athletic strong player who can shot the three. Villanova does not have a lot of depth here . They really only have two players in senior Maurice Sutton (3.6 ppg) and highly touted freshman Daniel Ochefu.

Villanova caught a big break when Wake Forest transfer Tony Chennault became eligible immediately. The Philly native started every game for Wake Forest last season. Likely joining Chennault in the backcourt is Darrun Hilliard (4. 8ppg), who has starting experience. The Wildcats have plenty of depth here with Achraf Yacoubou (2.2 ppg) and two freshman Ryan Arcidiacono and Mislav Brjoja. Arcidiacono is highly rated and don’t be shocked to see him start right away. He is everything you won’t in a point guard. Ty Johnson transferred out of Villanova in fall practices. This unit will receive a boost when Dylan Ennis a transfer from Rice becomes eligible.
