Cincinnati and Xavier meet for 1st time since the Brawl

Published on December 19, 2012 by Scott Shirley   ·   No Comments

Last year one of the best rivalries in college basketball ended with 9 seconds left in the game, a dominant 76-53 win for Xavier over Cincinnati . However, the game will be remembered for the big brawl that took place at the end of the game , that resulted in multiple players getting suspended. Now the two teams will meet since the brawl from last season.

This was truly an embarrassment for the college game.

It all started when Xavier’s All-American player Tu Holloway and Cincinnati’s Ge’Lawn Guyn where jawing at each other face to face. Then a Xavier player pushed Guyn away then all the players just went crazy.

While most of the players where just pushing and shouting at each other. There were two disturbing incidents that I have saw so far on tape.

Cincinnati star center Yancy Gates throw a punch to the face of Xaiver’s Kenny Frease. The punch left Frease bloody.

Then after Frease was down Cincinnati’s Cheikh Mbodj stomp on Frease while he was on the ground, also a big no no.

Now on to this season the game will be played at a neutral site at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. Cincinnati is clearly the better team this season; they come into this game 10-0. They are led by 3 outstanding guards Cashmere Wright, Sean Kilpatrick, and JaQuon Parker. This is a rebuilding year for Xavier.

Here are some videos from last season.
