Dallas Mavericks :NBA Offseason (draft, trades, and free agency)

Dallas: NBA Draft Grade D

(24) Jared Cunningham, SG; (33) Bernard James, C; (34) Jae Crowder, F

I really don’t get what the Mavericks did in this draft. Their best pick was Tyler Zeller but they traded him away to Cleveland. Cunningham is a very athletic guard but he can’t shoot to save his life. Like me most mock drafts did not even have him going in the 1st round. James is a very tough defensive minded center that will provide great back up minutes to Brandon Haywood. Crowder is a great college player but just doesn’t have the size to play in the NBA.

Offseason/ Free Agents and Trades: Grade C-

-This has been a very bad off season for the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs lost two of their best guards to other teams. Jason Kidd went to the Knicks and Jason Terry went to the Celtics. The Mavs also lost out on Deron Williams who decided to stay with the Nets rather than returning to his hometown Mavericks.

- The Mavs sent Ian Mahinmi to Indiana. In return the Mavs get point guard Darren Collison and guard Danhtay Jones . The Mavs also recived Tadija Dragicevic in a trade.

- Center Chris Kaman signed a one deal worth $8 Million. Kaman played last season with the Hornets.

- Shooting guard O.J. Mayo has agreed to a multiple-year contract with the Mavs.

- The Mavericks have resigned Delonte West.

- The Mavs claimed Elton Brand via amnesty form the 76ers and they let go Brendan Haywood.

- The Mavs also lost Jason Terry to the Celtics in Free agency and traded away the following players Kelenna Azubuike, Shan Foster, and Lamar Odom.
