Who knew there was a third Gasol in the picture? Marc and Pau are both NBA stars but they also have a brother. The third Gasol first name is Adria. While is not even close to being talented as his older brothers the 18 year old will still be playing basketball this fall.
Adria had decided to walk on and play basketball at UCLA. He will be in the same city that Pau calls home. I really wouldn’t look for Adria to make any type of impact. Right now he is only getting the intention because of his last name.
At young ages both Pau and Marc were superstars the same can’t be said for Adria. He tried out for the Spanish U-18 team last summer but he didn’t make it.
Rafal Juc of EuroHopes.com, told Jeff Eisenberg of Yahoo Sports that there isn’t much of a future in basketball for Adria.
“(Adria) looks like a typical late-developing kid — long, skinny, fast but lost on the court,” said Rafal Juc, a Poland-based scout for EuroHopes.com.
“Adria was on radar of a couple of Spanish agents and scouts, but they don’t see him in the future on as high a level as his brothers play. His basketball IQ is limited, he shows some serious lack of basketball fundamentals and struggles due to many injuries. But in my opinion it’s smart move by UCLA (to add him). It doesn’t cost anything to get the kid a place (on the) basketball team when he pays for his academics, especially when his last name is Gasol.”
