3 losers of the NBA Draft: Western Conference

Published on July 9, 2012 by Scott Shirley   ·   No Comments

LA Clippers :

53) Furkan Aldemir, PF

The Clippers did not have a 1st round pick. With the 53rd overall pick they took Aldemir but they later traded him to the Houston Rockets. So the Clipper got no new players out of this draft. The biggest news from this off season is that the Clippers obtained Lamar Odom. Who knows what he still has left.

Dallas:

(24) Jared Cunningham, SG; (33) Bernard James, C; (34) Jae Crowder, F

I really don’t get what the Mavericks did in this draft. Their best pick was Tyler Zeller but they traded him away to Cleveland. Cunningham is a very athletic guard but he can’t shoot to save his life. Like me most mock drafts did not even have him going in the 1st round. James is a very tough defensive minded center that will provide great back up minutes to Brandon Haywood. Crowder is a great college player but just doesn’t have the size to play in the NBA.

Minnesota:

(58) Robbie Hummel, SF

Minnesota lost their 1st round pick when they traded for Chase Budinger from the Houston Rockets. With one of the last picks in the draft the Timberwolves took Robbie Hummel from Purdue. At Purdue Hummel recovered from 2 ACL injuries. Down the line Hummel could add shooting depth to Minnesota. The Timberwolves are not a great long distance shooting team.
