The 2nd weekend of the NCAA tournament is in the books. There were many great performances from the weekend but find out below what players were the best.
1. Jared Sullinger (Ohio State) – Sullinger had a so so first two games in the NCAA tournament but this past weekend he really turned it on. In the two wins over Cincinnati and Syracuse Sullinger averaging 21 points and 9 rebounds. He was also automatic from the free throw line going 18 out of 22 in the two games.
2. Michael Kidd Gilchrist (Kentucky)- In Kentucky’s third round win over Iowa State Gilchrist only had 2 points but he stepped it up big-time in the sweet 16 and elite 8 games. In wins over Indiana and Baylor he averaged 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. He was also 14 of 14 from the line. No one could stop him from driving to the basket just too much strength.
3. Thomas Robinson (Kansas)- Robinson was his usual dominant self. In wins over North Carolina and NC State Robinson averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds. Robinson even hit a three against the Tar Heels. Robinson left a lot of points out there as in the two games he shot 13 of 33 from the field.
4. Chane Behanan (Louisville)- Without the play of the Behanan Louisville would not be in the final four. The freshman stepped up his game big time this weekend. Despite being an oversized forward Behanan gets it done. In the two wins over Michigan State and Florida he averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds.
5. Jeff Withey (Kansas)- Withey stepped his game up big-time this past weekend. Withey the Big 12 Defensive player of the Year had 10 blocks against NC State. Withey averaged 11 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.5 blocks in wins over North Carolina and NC State.
