All Big 12 Teams

Published on March 6, 2012 by Scott Shirley   ·   No Comments

Conference play is over, so it is time to do my all conference teams for each conference. Today I look at the Big 12. Find out who have been the best players in the Big 12 so far. I will also give my player, coach and freshman of the year in the Big 12.

Player of the Year: Thomas Robinson (Kansas)

Coach of the Year: Bill Self (Kansas)

Freshman of the Year: Le’Bryan Nash (Oklahoma State)

1st Team

F Thomas Robinson, Kansas ( Jr.) – Robinson is the most strongest and explosive player in the nation. For the year he is averaging a double double with 18 points and 11.9 rebounds. The rebounds are best in the Big 12. In my mind he is the favorite to win National Player of the Year. He is also averaging 1.8 assists and 1.1 blocks.

G Marcus Denmon, Missouri (Sr.) – Denmon is playing like the best shooting guard in the country. Denmon is the second leading scorer in the Big 12 with 18 points per game. Denmon is making 2.9 three pointers per game, that’s second in the Big 12. Denmon is also averaging 5.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

G J’Covan Brown, Texas (Jr.) – Brown is leading the Big 12 in scoring with 20 points per game. He is also averaging 3.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds and making 2.4 threes per game.

G Rodney McGruder, Kansas State (Jr.) –McGruder is leading a very underrated Kansas State team in points this season with 15.5 points per game. He is also a good rebounder for a guard averaging 5.4 rebounds per game. McGruder is also a very good three point shooter.

G Tyshawn Taylor, Kansas (Sr.) – Taylor is averaging 17.2 points per game 4th in the Big 12. He is also averaging 4.9 assists per game. Taylor has improved his shooting; he is shooting over 43 % from three.

2nd Team

G Keiton Page, Oklahoma State (Sr.)- Page is leading Oklahoma State with the following 16.8 points 2.1 assists, and 1.5 steals. He is also making 3.2 threes per game while shooting 38 % from three.  The points are 4th best in the Big 12, while the three pointers made per game are first.

G Kim English, Missouri (Sr.) – English is shooting like crazy from three. He is shooting 45 % from deep while making 2.2 threes per game. For the season he is averaging 14 .1 points and 4.2 rebounds.

F Royce White, Iowa State (Soph.) – White does it all for Iowa State. He leads them in points (12.9), rebounds (9.2), assists (5.2), steals (1.2) and blocks (1). He is second in the Big 12 in rebounding.

G Pierre Jackson, Baylor (Jr.)- The junior college transfer has had one heck of a season in his first year with Baylor. He leads Baylor in scoring 13. 5 points and he is also averaging 5.6 assists, 3 rebounds, 1.7 steals.

F Ricardo Ratliffe, Missouri (Sr.)- Ratliffe is shooting a ridiculous 71% from the field this season he is chasing records. Ratliffle is also averaging 13.8 points and 7.5 rebounds. He is the only true big man on the Tigers roster.

3rd Team

F Quincy Acy, Baylor (Sr.) Acy is the 6th leading rebounder in the Big 12 with 7.2 rebounds. Acy is averaging 12.1 points on the season. Acy is also second in the Big 12 in blocks (2).

G Elston Turner, Texas A&M (Jr.)- Turner, a Washington transfer is leading a disappointing Texas A&M team in scoring (13.8). He is also averaging 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He is making 2.3 threes per game.

F Le’Bryan Nash, Oklahoma State (Fr.)- Nash struggled some early but he has picked up his play big time. He is the best freshman in the Big 12. For the season he is averaging 13.3 points and 5 rebounds.

G Steven Pledger, Oklahoma (Jr.) – Pledger is averaging 16.6 points per game on the season, which is good for 6th in the Big 12. From the three, Pledger is shooting 43 %, while making 2.5 threes per game.

F Perry Jones, Baylor (Soph.) – Jones was the first player at Baylor ever to earn Freshman All-America honors. Jones is averaging 13.1 points and 7.5 rebounds. Jones is a top 5 talent and could put up even better numbers than he is.
